The Last Judgement

Christ sits at the top center, wearing a blue robe, displaying his stigmata with raised hands and revealing a wound in his side. He rests his feet upon a white sphere, surrounded by blue clouds. To his left, the Virgin Mary kneels in a blue mantle with her hands in prayer, and to his right, John the Baptist kneels wearing a hair shirt. Below them on the left, a group of small, nude figures stand with hands clasped in prayer. On the right, a large, monstrous animal head (hellmouth) with teeth and fire emanating from its jaws swallows the damned.

This image represents the traditional Christian iconography of the Last Judgement, where Christ acts as judge of the living and the dead. The inclusion of the hellmouth and the intercessory figures of Mary and John follows established medieval eschatological patterns seen in Books of Hours.
