The subject is shown in late 16th-century noble attire, wearing a high pleated ruff and a buttoned doublet with embroidered details. Below the portrait, a rectangular cartouche identifies the sitter and notes that the engraving was based on an original drawing by Hendrick Goltzius. This print was produced in the mid-18th century as part of a series of historical Dutch portraits.
