Original fileAn architectural view of a grand gallery featuring seven large-scale biblical scenes set within the upper walls above an arched colonnade. A medallion portrait of Raphael is suspended at the top by winged figures, while a portrait of Queen Anne appears at the bottom center, flanked by extensive historical inscriptions. The depicted scenes include Paul Preaching at Athens, the Miraculous Draught of Fishes, and the Death of Ananias.
The cartoons represent the High Renaissance synthesis of Christian theology and Classical philosophy. The 'Paul Preaching at Athens' scene is particularly vital to the Neoplatonic tradition, as it depicts the conversion of Dionysius the Areopagite, whose supposed writings became a cornerstone of Christian esotericism and angelology.

Translation
Raphael of Urbino. Always the Same. Queen Anne. Seven paper cartoons painted (by order of Pope Leo X) by Raphael of Urbino for the weaving of tapestries, which King Charles I (at the persuasion of the knight P.P. Rubens) ordered to be brought from Flanders to England, and which King William later placed in his palace called Hampton Court, in the gallery represented here. In the year 1707 Simon Gribelin drew and engraved them on copper and most humbly dedicated them to the Serene Queen Anne. S.G. designed, engraved, and published it.
