This study was created for the Stanza della Segnatura, an environment designed to illustrate the Renaissance Neoplatonic harmony between human philosophy and divine revelation. The final fresco reflects the intellectual efforts of the papal court to synthesize the classical tradition with Christian doctrine, a project deeply influenced by the ideas of Marsilio Ficino.
