This is a loose, gestural study on paper showing the forms of two young children. One figure on the right is drawn with more definition, appearing to lean forward over a ledge, while the second figure is faintly suggested behind it.

In the Neoplatonic thought of the High Renaissance, putti often represented 'spiritelli'—the vital spirits or personifications of 'pneuma' that mediated between the physical body and the soul's divine intellect.
