Odilon Redon, Panneau décoratif, 0729 Because I wanted to shoot some more "Wiki loves Art" shots I went to the Rijksmuseum Twente. That's in Enschede, the east of the Netherlands, near to where I grew up. I hadn't been there in ages and was surprised to find a very broad selection / collection of great local, national and international art & design from 1200 till modern times & avantgarde. This young artist had gotten permission to paint after a Monet landscape, on the spot.
I liked that - the idea and the scene and what he was doing. It looked good and it smelled good - the end of the day, a work in progress. Behind him a large "decorative panel " by Odilon Redon.
I asked the guy if he experienced the light to be quite yellow too, and he agreed. But I should have checked my settings better - afterwards I discovered that during this entire shoot I had set my whitebalance on a pre-programmed "cloudy". Everything bathed in a very, very warm golden glow. It took me quite some effort to try and filter that out in post production. In some shots, like this one, a bw conversion simply seemed to be the best solution..
