This is the official bookplate of the University of Toronto Library. At the top is the university coat of arms, featuring a shield with three books, a crown above the shield, and a tree at the very top. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto, "As a tree through the ages." original: "VELUT ARBOR ÆVO"

This heraldic bookplate is printed in reddish brown ink. The crest features a hand in armor grasping a battle axe. The central shield depicts a wyvern, which is a legendary dragon with two legs. Beneath the shield, a scroll contains the motto, "The eagle does not catch flies." original: "AQUILA NON CAPTAT MUSCAS" The entire plate is framed by a double line border.
