As we labor (no longer in secret imaginations alone, but in the open) for the honor of the Great God, the common benefit of the human race, and as a prelude to the future life, upon the structure of the TEMPLE OF WISDOM, it is fitting to imitate the skill of wise Architects. These craftsmen are accustomed to never begin the construction of any major work without a previous Outline original: "Delineatione," referring to a preliminary architectural sketch or plan of the future work. This practice, besides the delight it provides (for our mind, being carried toward the future by its own nature, is charmed by the foresight of a coming thing), has a remarkable use in preventing the loss of expenses, time, and reputation.
