XIV. The Form of this Book ought to be pan-harmony original Greek: "παναρμονία" (panarmonia), that is, Universal Harmony, or the consonance and agreement of all things with all things. For we must not simply pile up observations about things here in a heap, however useful they may be or wherever they were gathered; rather, the innermost nature of the things themselves must be revealed. This must be done with such craftsmanship original: "artificio" that, just as there is no dissonance in God (the author of all things) or in His Works Nature and His Words Scripture, so too no discrepancy shall remain in our concepts. This is achieved by finding the central points of things, where even extremes and opposites meet and cease their conflict. By this means, it is hoped that whatever various people think and do in various ways (provided they are rational)—even if they are unaware of one another, misunderstand one another, or even oppose one another—they may here come to agreement and harmony. This will happen by leading the small streams original: "rivulis" of all thoughts and actions back to their true and pu-
