They judged these very same qualities in the elements:
Earth 🜃 dry 🜃 cold

Air ✳ moist ✳ warm
Fire 🜂 dry 🜂 warm.
Always proceeding in this division of four, they subdivided the Zodiac into the four triplicities From the Latin triplicitas; a grouping of three zodiac signs belonging to the same element. or trigons — Fire — Water — Air — Earth. They called the first trigon the fiery one, namely ♈ ♌ ♐ Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.. The second, the Earthly one ♉ ♍ ♑ Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.. The third, the Airy one ♊ ♎ ♒ Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.. The fourth, the Watery one ♋ ♏ ♓ Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.; because they formed triangles in the figure.
A complex astrological diagram representing the twelve signs of the Zodiac and their associated elements (the Triplicities). At the center is a double-ringed circle with radiating sunburst lines, enclosed in a square labeled with the letters 'A' and 'B'. This central structure is overlaid by four interlocking triangles forming a star pattern. Outside the points of the star are the symbols for the twelve signs: ♈ (Aries), ♉ (Taurus), ♊ (Gemini), ♋ (Cancer), ♌ (Leo), ♍ (Virgo), ♎ (Libra), ♏ (Scorpio), ♐ (Sagittarius), ♑ (Capricorn), ♒ (Aquarius), and ♓ (Pisces). The internal triangular segments are labeled with the elements: "Feurig" (Fire), "Irdisch" (Earth), "Luftig" (Air), and "Wäßrig" (Water), repeated in sequence to show the elemental classification of each sign. A small signature "J. F. Wetzel" appears in the lower left portion of the diagram.
