The location of life's range is in that sign in which the horoscopus The Ascendant or Rising Sign is established.
Rising original: "Ἀνατολὴ" (Anatole), the eastern angle, the first house.
Setting original: "Δύσις" (Dysis), the western descent.
Midheaven original: "μεσουράνιον" (Mesouranion), the center of the sky.
Bottom of the Sky original: "ὑπόγειον" (Hypogeion), the lowest point of the heavens.
Rising in Latin, the first part of the ascendant, which emerges first from the eastern part at any time of birth, and is drawn out through thirty parts degrees in succession.
Setting: the part of the sky located exactly in the seventh place from the ascendant; in Greek, the Western Diameter original: "διάμετρον Δυτικόν" (diametron Dytikon).
Midheaven: called the tenth sign from the ascendant.
Bottom of the Sky: which is established in the fourth place from the ascendant.
Goddess original: "θεὰ" (Thea) is the third place from the ascendant, that is, the third sign from the ascendant.
God original: "θεὸς" (Theos): that sign which is established directly opposite this sign on the diameter, that is, the ninth from the ascendant.
Good Fortune: the fifth place from the ascendant; in Greek, Good Luck original: "ἀγαθὴ τύχη" (Agathe Tyche).
Good Spirit original: "Ἀγαθοδαίμων" (Agathodaimon): that is, the "Good Daemon," across the diameter from [the place of] Fortune, which is in the eleventh place from the ascendant.
Idle and Cast-Down Places are so called when they are joined in no fellowship aspect with the ascendant.
Rising Forth original: "Ἀναφορὰ" (Anaphora), or the Lower Gate, is the name for the first cast-down place, which is established in the second sign from the ascendant.
Sinking Down original: "ἐπικαταφορὰ" (Epikataphora), or the Upper Gate, is the diameter the opposite of the aforementioned sign, that is, the eighth place from the ascendant.
The last places are those of Bad Fortune and Bad Spirits.
Bad Fortune: the sixth place from the ascendant; in Greek, Bad Luck or Bad Spirit original: "κακοτύχη ἢ κακοδαίμων" (Kakotyche or Kakodaimon).
Opposite Aspect [Diameter]: which is from one sign to the seventh sign away, as is Aries (♈) and Libra (♎).
Trine Aspect [Trigonus]: which is from the sign where we begin to the fifth sign, as is Aries (♈) to Leo (♌).
We call it the Right Trine when it is behind the sign from which we begin.
The Left Trine is what is ahead; for example, the Right Trine of Aries (♈) is Sagittarius (♐), while the Left is Leo (♌); similarly, the Right Trine of Leo (♌) is Aries (♈), and the Left is Sagittarius (♐).
Square Aspect: which is from the sign where we start to the fourth, such as Aries (♈), Cancer (♋), and Capricorn (♑).
Whatever is behind is called a Right Square, such as Aries (♈) and Capricorn (♑).
Sextile Aspect [Hexagonus]: which is from the sign where we begin to the third.
Giver of Life: the lord of the nativity the ruling planet of the birth chart.
Heavenly Figures original: "Οὐράnia ζῴδια" (Ourania zodia): celestial images or heavenly signs.
Evildoers original: "κακοποιοί" (kakopoioi): the fortunating planets. Note: The author appears to have swapped the definitions here; Greek "kakopoioi" usually refers to Malefics, but the text defines them as "fortunantes."
Doers of Good original: "καλοποιοί" (kalopoioi): the unfortunating planets, otherwise called malefics and unfortunating ones. Note: As above, the text swaps the standard definitions of Malefics and Benefics.
Outcome original: "Ἀποτέλεσμα" (Apotelesma): an astrological judgment or opinion; in Latin, a prediction or judgment.
Secondary Signs: those which are seen in the elements themselves, such as Comets, earthquakes, rains, and excessive droughts; so called because they have secondary powers, whereas the primary power resides in the heavens and the celestial stars, and the secondary power is in the elements which are moved within them.
Corrupting Stars: those which assist the decrees of the celestial stars; they are those things which occur in the elements with an excess and a certain greater force, such as droughts and excessive rains; called "corrupting" because every excess of the elements brings about corruption.
Favorable Stars: which have an innate favorable and prosperous power.
Cusps of Heaven: the angles original: "τὰ κέντρα" (ta kentra), or pivots [cardines]; these are the same.
Successive Houses original: "Ἐπαναφόραι" (Epanaphorai): the houses that follow [the angles].
Eclipses original: "Ἐκλείψεις" (Ekleipseis): the failings and darkenings of the luminaries the Sun and Moon.
