A horizontal decorative band consists of floral and geometric ornaments with a central star-like flower.

This is accompanied by the inscription borrowed from Horace: Sapere aude Dare to know, which means: embolden yourself to be rational.
The reverse side contains the following memorial inscription: Societas ALETOPHILORUM, ab Ern. Christophoro S. R. J. Comite de Manteuffel, instituta Berol. MDCCXXXVI. Society of the Lovers of Truth, established in Berlin in 1736 by Ernst Christoph, Count of the Holy Roman Empire, of Manteuffel.
