First: to exercise you in some measure through this, so that during other horis subsecivis leisure hours and times of refreshment, you might spend your time fruitfully rather than in vain.

Second: so that the Disputatio disputation or rather the Dissertatio discussion of the fictional persons might not only awaken many a pious man and Biderman honest person (of whom many are known to us, here and there) to further investigate us and our occasion: but might also cause them to behave in their daily life, actions, and conduct in such a way that they may, in their time, be worthy to be accepted into our Gesellschafft society.
