...[at one] and another place. By virtue of this proof, it is simultaneously shown how harshly those sin who partly make suspicious, and partly reject and condemn, that very thing which God has promised in His Word as a special grace in the final times. The Holy Revelation original: h. Offenbahrung; referring to the Book of Revelation or Apocalypse. testifies expressly in the 8th Chapter, verses 2 and 3, that before the seven trumpets are sounded by the angels appointed for it, first much incense incense: Rauchwerck; in the biblical context, this represents the prayers of the faithful rising to God's altar. from the golden altar, from the hand of the angel, shall be given for the prayer of all saints. At that same time, the servants of God are also sealed on their foreheads with the seal of the living God, specifically so that they may remain preserved both from the temptation that shall come upon the entire world, and also from the plagues of the land with which God the Lord plagues the godless on earth (Revelation 3:10; 8:7). This sealing, which follows the prayer of the believers, happens through the sealing Spirit, who is offered to them in great measure for the strengthening of faith and for victory against the world and the prince of the world.
§. 5 If now—just as Daniel previously took note of the number of years of which the Lord spoke to the prophet Jeremiah, that Jerusalem should lie desolate for seventy years (Daniel 9:2)—we also in the Holy Apocalypse original: Apocalypsi take note of the time in which the seven seals shall be broken and the seven trumpeters shall be heard, then
then it is found that such shall happen in the sixth mystical Philadelphian congregation Philadelphian congregation: Philadelphische Gemeine; one of the seven churches of Revelation, interpreted by Pietists as the true, faithful church of the end times characterized by brotherly love.. For when the Lord Jesus preserves the Philadelphian angel—and in him all those who love the brothers—from the hour that shall come upon the entire world to try all who dwell on earth, they shall be preserved precisely through the sealing, or through the seal of God, with which He seals them on their foreheads. This sealing, however, happens in and during the given "much incense" for the prayer of all saints, when the Spirit of grace and prayer is powerfully offered to them. Because it is also clear from the 2nd Epistle to the Thessalonians, Chapter 2, verses 3 to 8, that the Day of Christ for His judgment is not yet at hand unless the falling away falling away: Abfall; also translated as apostasy or a mass turning away from the faith. comes first, and the Man of Sin and the Son of Perdition—whom the Lord will bring to an end through the experience of His coming—is revealed; and yet, as the falling away and the hour of temptation that shall come over the whole world are one and the same, one sees that the sealing and the prayer of all saints—during the breaking of the seals and the seven trumpets, at the time of the Lamb approaching for judgment, who now comes as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and is a judge of the living and the dead—must take place within the Philadelphian congregation.
§. 6. If we further look around in the Holy Revelation, we find that the angel who with
