BUT since it is necessary for every practitioner in this science original: "scientia"; Trithemius uses this word to describe his system of secret communication, which he masks as a form of angel magic. to know the locations and names of the principal Spirits and their signs—lest through ignorance one calls upon a spirit from the north while waiting in the south, which would not only hinder the intended purpose but could even harm the practitioner—I shall consequently set down for you, within a circle, the regions in which the principal Spirits dwell, along with their names and signs.
A circular diagram or "region" chart divided into twelve radial segments and four concentric rings. The upper right quadrant is populated with text and symbols. The segments are labeled at the outer edge with "East" (Oriens), "Subsolanus" (Subsol:), and "Eurus" (the South-East wind). Inside these segments are the names of spirits: "Pamersiel", "Podiel", and "Cimuel". Above each name is the letter "S" (likely for Spiritus). The inner rings contain various magical sigils and the letters "N", "R", and "R". To the left of the circle are additional labels: "Sul R+", "R:", and "Ful" repeated three times. A small cross is positioned at the top center above the circle.
