8 The Elemental Tree.

But in the elemental tree there is no difference of spiritual things, but of sensible things. And through that (difference), it has species sown or diffused within itself, differing from one another: such as the species of ox and ass, of apple and horse, of leaf and flower, and so concerning other sensible things existing as elements. And because of this, this difference is the root of the elemental tree. From which difference all specific differences are derived: existing in the tree in potency through matter, and in actuality through form.
On Concordance.
Concordance is that by which goodness, magnitude, etc., agree in one and in many. Many things agree in one and in many through concordance, such as goodness, magnitude, etc., which agree: so that they are parts of one substance, like the substance of an orchard, which is good and potent and great. They agree further, so that each (quality) remains what it is in substance: so that in that substance, difference is not lost,
