An elaborate mystical engraving illustrates the themes of the book. At the top, a radiant sun contains a triangle with the letters VA, IE, and OH. These letters represent the Tetragrammaton, which is the four-letter Hebrew name of God. They surround a central cross. Below this sun, a crown sends rays of light down toward a central human figure. This figure is a youth standing on top of a globe or celestial sphere. In his right hand, he holds a smaller orb. This orb is inscribed with the letters T. H. Y. Z. R. C. B. I. C. K. T. E. M. and features a central cross surrounded by flames. In his left hand, he holds a rod or scepter. To the left of the figure's head is the letter M inside a circle, and to the right is the letter V inside a circle. The background contains clouds, angelic heads, and crowns. At the bottom of the image, the sphere is ringed with stars and flames. A lamb lies on the left side and a horned beast, possibly a goat or a dragon, lies on the right side.
original: "VA, IE, OH" are phonetic representations used in Böhme's system to signify the breath and sound of the Divine Name. The letters "M" and "V" likely refer to the Mysterium Magnum Mysterium Magnum: The great mystery or the chaos from which God manifests the world and the Verbum Verbum: The Word or Christ as the creative power of God.
