its own kind; and by aversion it is sickened, but if it receives a will of its own kind, then it rejoices in that equality and sinks therein into rest. Thus, out of enmity, a joy is made; for eternal nature has born nothing out of itself in its desire but an equality. And were there not an everlasting mixing The author refers to the constant interaction and friction of different elemental forces, there would be an eternal peace in nature. But in that case, nature would not be manifest; it becomes manifest in strife, so that every thing raises itself up and desires to flee from the strife into the still rest, and yet by that very act runs into another, and thereby only awakens the strife.

Thus we find clearly in the light of nature that there is no better remedy for adversity, and it has no higher physician than freedom. That is the light of nature, that is the desire of the spirit. And then we find that the essence original: "Essenz" cannot be better helped than with equality; for the essence is a being original: "Wesen", and its desire stands toward being. Thus every taste The sensory or spiritual quality of a substance desires only its own kind, and when it receives that, its hunger is fulfilled and stilled; it ceases to hunger and rejoices in itself.
