2 Of GOD. CHAPTER 1. original: CHAP. I.
e Comprehension or receptacle.
4. The will is the Father. The mind is the [e] comprehension or receptacle conceived of the will; namely, the seat or habitation of the will, or the center toward something. It is the heart of the will. The outflowing of the will and mind is the power and spirit.
f Or Triune.
g Or mystical mystery.
5. This [f] triune spirit is one single essence. Yet it is not a physical essence but the eternal understanding. It is the origin of "something," yet it is the eternal [g] mystical mystery. Just as the understanding of man is not confined by time and place but is its own comprehension and seat, the outflowing of the spirit is the eternal original contemplation; namely, a pleasure or inclination original: Lubet; an inner longing or desire that precedes manifestation of the spirit.
h That which has flown forth from the one eternal will.
i Or speaks forth.
6. That which has [h] flown forth is called the inclination of the Deity, or the eternal wisdom. This wisdom is the eternal origin of all powers, colors, and virtues. Through this, the triune spirit in this inclination comes to a state of desire; namely, for those powers, colors, and virtues. Its desiring is an impression, a process of conceiving itself. The will conceives wisdom in the mind. That which is conceived in the understanding is the eternal Word of all colors, powers, and virtues, which the eternal will [i] speaks forth by the spirit from the understanding of the mind.
k Text Property.
7. This speaking is the motion or life of the Deity. It is an eye of eternal seeing, where each power, color, and virtue distinctly knows the others. Yet they all exist in equal [k] property original: Analogy; a proportional relationship or correspondence, devoid of weight, limit, or measure. They are also undivided from one another. All the powers, colors, and virtues lie in one. It is a distinct, mutual, well-tuned, and fertile harmony. Or, as I might say, it is a speaking Word. In this Word or speaking, all languages, powers, colors, and virtues are contained. With the pronouncing or speaking, they unfold themselves and bring themselves into sight and knowledge.
8. This is the eye of the abyss, the eternal chaos, in which everything contained in eternity and time exists. It is called Counsel, Power, Wonder, and Virtue. His peculiar and proper name is God, or Jeova, or Jehovah. He exists without any nature and without the beginning of any essence. He is a working in himself: generating, finding, or perceiving himself, without being caused by or originating from anything else. He has neither beginning nor end. He is immense; no number can express his vastness and greatness. He is deeper than any thought can reach. He is never far from anything, nor near to anything. He is through all and in all. His birth is everywhere. Besides him, there is nothing else. He is time and eternity, the ground original: Bysse; a foundation or bottom, the opposite of the abyss or bottomless and the abyss. Yet nothing comprehends him except the true understanding, which is God himself.
