10 Of the Two Principles. CHAPTER 4.
the Free Lubet original: "Lubet"; a term for God's innate, peaceful desire or delight, which desires to be manifest; it longs for the will of the Father, which has generated it without Nature; and it uses Nature for its play. Here, Nature again desires the will, and the will has reconceived itself to go again out of the Anguish and into the Liberty: namely, the Lubet.
25. Understand: it is the reconceived will that desires the Free Lubet of God. But now it has taken into itself the horrible, astringent, hard, compunctive original: "Compunctive"; meaning stinging or piercing sharpness. The free Lubet is a great meekness compared to the wrathful nature; it is like a Nothing, and yet it exists. Now both of these clash together. The sharp will eagerly and mightily desires the Fire-Lubet, and the Lubet desires the austere original: "Austere"; meaning harsh or bitter will. As they enter into and feel each other, a great flagrat original: "Flagrat"; a sudden burst, flash, or explosion of energy occurs, like a flash of lightning, just as fire, celestial lightning, or an ethereal blaze is ignited in the firmament.
26. And in this flagrat, the Fire is ignited. For the astringent, harsh darkness, which is cold, is terrified by the light and great meekness of the Free Lubet. It becomes a flagrat of Death within itself, where the wrathfulness and cold property retreat back into themselves and close up like a death. For in the flagrat, the dark mind m As being afraid or terrified by the light. becomes substantial original: "essentiall"; here meaning taking on a fixed, concrete essence. It sorrowfully withdraws into itself as ^m a great fear in the presence of the light, or as an enmity toward the light. This is the true origin of the dark world: namely, the Abyss into which the devils are cast, which we call Hell.
CHAPTER IV.
Of the Two Principles: Namely, God's Love and Anger; of Darkness and Light; Very Necessary for the Reader to Consider.
1. In this flagrat, or the igniting of the fire, two kingdoms separate themselves. Yet they are only one. They divide in their essence, source, and will, and they are invisible to one another. The one does not understand the other in its own source, and yet they proceed from one origin and are dependent on one another. The one would be nothing without the other, and yet both receive their source from one origin. Understand it in this way:
2. When the blaze or flagrat arises, it occurs at the point original: "Punctum" and in an instant original: "Twinck"; like the blink of an eye forms a triangle [Symbol: △] or a cross [Symbol: ☩]. This is the true meaning of the symbol [Symbol: ♁] original: "Character"; referring to the globus cruciger, a sphere topped by a cross. First, it is the keenness of all things and God manifested in the Trinity. The triangle signifies the hidden God: namely, the Word or Divine understanding, which is threefold in its eternal, unbegun original: "un-inchoative"; having no beginning birth, and yet only one in its
