CHAPTER 4. Of the Two Principles. [Page number:] 11
... its manifestation. In the fire and light world, this Trinity manifests itself in the birth. This does not mean there is a specific physical place where such a figure stands. Rather, the entire process of birth is like this. Wherever the Divine Fire manifests itself in anything, its inflammation original: "inflammation"; the act of catching fire or being kindled creates a triangle [△ with a dot inside]. Human beings should observe this seriously. They should see how life kindles itself in a triangle, which symbolizes the Holy Trinity. The light of life was in the Word of the Deity, which was breathed into man (as John says in his first chapter). Yet this light disappeared in Paradise in relation to God. Therefore, it must be born again on the Cross original: "T."; the shape of the Cross.
The Explanation of the preceding Symbols:
3. The upper Cross symbolizes the unformed Word in the Trinity, which exists entirely without Nature. The symbol is drawn like this: [a circle with a cross on top and a dot inside]. This character symbolizes the Formed Word [a circle with a cross inside], namely the Angelic World.
4. The triangle with three straight points has changed itself into a Cross original: "T." upon which death was slain. This points to the Great Love of God. He has freely given Himself back into our humanity from the Triangle after we had departed from the Triangle in the light of life.
5. Therefore, the Great Angle points downwards, symbolizing great humility. It also shows that we have lost the fiery Angle that ascends Y on high, which was the state in which we were the image and likeness of God. Therefore, the Angle of Regeneration in the Cross original: "T." has turned itself T downward. It no longer ascends with its point. This symbolizes for us true resignation original: "Resignation"; the spiritual practice of yielding one's will to God under the Cross T. There, in the Spirit of Christ, we shall be born again through the great humility of God in the light.
6. Now, in the flash of the fire original: "Fires Flagrat"; a sudden burst or explosion of energy, the will separates into two kingdoms. Each of these dwells within itself. The flash in the darkness is God's anger. But the flash in the reconceiving of the free Lubet original: "free Lubet"; God's innate, peaceful desire or delight becomes the Highly Triumphant Divine Kingdom of Joy. In this free Lubet, the peaceful desire is elevated and brought into a wrestling love-play. In this way, it becomes active and productive.
7. This does not mean that God has a beginning in time. Rather, it is the eternal beginning of God as He is manifested. It shows how the Divine understanding manifests itself with power in distinct variety. It works itself out into a kingdom, which is an eternal...
