Isaiah 45:7.
1 Timothy 3.
Psalm 18:11.
A. It denotes God insofar as He is called Aleph both dark and bright by the CabalistsFollowers of Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) whose ideas were adapted by Christian thinkers like Fludd to explain the mysteries of creation.. Namely, in His dark and hidden or concealed property, and in His bright, manifest, and open property. Whence the Psalmist says: As is its darkness, so is its light: And so He is called the Sun giving grace and glory: And He made darkness His secret place round about Him. Finally, if He wills, He reveals His bright nature, or offers His grace to the world: If He does not will it, darkness is created, according to that saying of the Prophet: I am the Lord, forming light and creating darkness, making good and creating evil, etc.
B. Darkness was upon the face of the deep. (Genesis 1). And HermesHermes Trismegistus, the legendary Hellenistic figure to whom the "Hermetic" writings on philosophy and magic are attributed. says: There was an infinite Shadow in the abyss, but water and a thin Spirit were within the abyss, etc. And David: He made darkness His secret place.

Isaiah 44:24.
C. Here, God (who is light in which there is no darkness at all) reveals Himself out of the darkness: and this emanation is called by the wise man Referring to the author of the Book of Wisdom. the Brightness of eternal light and a certain pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty God, which in its splendor is more precious than the sun itself and is found to be prior to every arrangement of the stars when compared in light. In this state, it is understood as the divine essence or act through itself—that is, without any mixture with worldly matter—and is said by the Cabalists to be Aleph changed from dark to bright: concerning which the Apostle says: The darkness has now passed away, and the true light that illuminates all things now shines. In this bright Word was the life of all things. This Word made all things, stretched out the heavens alone, and established the earth, and there was no one with Him.

D. E. Where, from the darkness (or divine power) and the light (or divine act), a single world is forged in the image of the divine monadThe 'Monad' refers to the 'One' or the ultimate source of all being in Pythagorean and Neo-Platonic philosophy.. For from the immense abyss of darkness, B., the waters emerged according to that saying of Hermes: An infinite Shadow was in the abyss, but water and its Spirit were within the abyss, and a holy splendor flourished, etc., from which water the existence of the world arose, as if derived from an incomprehensible source. From C. is derived that essence which gives form to the watery existence of the world. Whence the sacred text: The hand of the Almighty created the world out of formless matter. And elsewhere: He reveals foundations out of darkness and brings the shadow of death into the light. And Moses: The Spirit of God moved upon the waters. Finally, the Apostle: The heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water by the assisting Word. For this Jehovah stretched out the heavens and established the earth; the effect of His privative and dark property is night, but of His bright and positive property is day; He Himself crafted the dawn and the sun, and in it He placed His tabernacle.
Psalm 104:19. Job 34:13. Deuteronomy 32:39. Wisdom 6:13. Isaiah 45:7.F. Finally, F. denoting the daytime hemisphere of the world and G. the nighttime hemisphere, they indicate those twofold contrary effects which the one God produces in this typical world under two names: for according to the mythical theology of Orpheus, Hesiod, Euripides, and Aeschylus (whose custom it was to involve the mysteries they learned from divine persons in fables): the divine Sun in the ArchetypeThe 'Archetype' is the original divine blueprint or world of ideas that exists in the mind of God before physical creation. (from which all ornament and beauty, comprising the rhythmic harmony of Life, is derived) is said to have Piety and Benevolence in His right hand, and Severity and Punishment in His left. Hence they called this created or worldly sun (in which that archetypal one placed his tabernacle) in one respect Apollo, whom they imagine to have grace, life, and health in his right hand, but in his left hand to carry a bow and arrow: but in another respect they called him Bacchus and Dionysius. Under the name of Apollo, they assigned to him the daytime property, whose function is to forge all things from seven parts and preserve them, thereby intimating that he is the author of life, generation, multiplication, and health. By the name of Dionysius, they intend his harmful nature, in which he destroys, tears apart, and scatters the creatures forged by Apollo during the day from seven parts, thereby arguing that he is the cause of death, corruption, and decrease. For this reason, the Athenians called him under the name of Apollo Alexicacon original: "Alexicacon" from Greek ἀλεξίκακος, meaning "averter of evil.", that is, the driver away of evil, and the ancients called him Apollin instead of Apellin, as if he were the dispeller of evils, and Homer called him Ulion original: "Ulion" from Greek οὔλιος. While often meaning destructive, Fludd interprets it here in the sense of "whole" or "healthy.", that is, the author of health. And David says: when God gives, the creatures gather life; when He takes away their spirit, they expire; when He sends forth His spirit, they are recreated. And Job: God applies His breath to man, and if He should take it back, all flesh would expire. I will kill, says the Lord, and I will make to live. And Solomon: God has the power of life and death, who leads down to the gates of death and leads back again. Finally, God says: I am the Lord and there is no other, forming light, creating darkness, making good and creating evil. I the Lord am doing all these things.
