A detailed cosmological engraving centered on the page. At the top, a dark circle with a small radiant opening emits a shaft of light into a celestial orb. Below this, on the left, is a large black sphere containing a central white triangle. To its right is a radiant starburst design. Beneath these sits a large circle divided into a lighter upper half containing a personified sun with a human face and a darker lower half. A small bird, likely a dove, is positioned between the upper starburst and the personified sun. At the very center of the large circle is a small black orb with a white triangle. At the bottom of the diagram are two semicircular scenes: on the left, a dark landscape with a lone human figure; on the right, a luminous scene where a radiant figure (Christ) reaches out to a seated man.Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature, for in Him were created
all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether Thrones, or Dominions,
or Principalities, or powers, all things were created through Him and in Him:
He is before all, and all things consist in Him. Colossians 1:15-16.

A. It denotes God insofar as He is called Aleph both dark and bright by the CabalistsFollowers of Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) whose ideas were adapted by Christian thinkers like Fludd to explain the mysteries of creation.. Namely, in His dark and hidden or concealed property, and in His bright, manifest, and open property. Whence the Psalmist says: As is its darkness, so is its light original: "Sicut tenebræ ejus, ita & lumen ejus": And so He is called the Sun giving grace and glory: And He made darkness His secret place round about Him original: "Posuit tenebras latibulum suum in circuitu ejus". Finally, if He wills, He reveals His bright nature, or offers His grace to the world: If He does not will it, darkness is created, according to that saying of the Prophet: I am the Lord, forming light and creating darkness, making good and creating evil, original: "Ego Dominus, formans lucem & creans tenebras, faciens bonum & creans malum" etc.
B. Darkness was upon the face of the deep. (Genesis 1). And HermesHermes Trismegistus, the legendary Hellenistic figure to whom the "Hermetic" writings on philosophy and magic are attributed. says: There was an infinite Shadow in the abyss, but water and a thin Spirit were within the abyss, etc. And David: He made darkness His secret place.

C. Here, God (who is light in which there is no darkness at all) reveals Himself out of the darkness: and this emanation is called by the wise man Referring to the author of the Book of Wisdom. the Brightness of eternal light and the unspotted mirror of the majesty of God. original: "Candor lucis æternæ... speculum sine macula Dei majestatis" For God is light, as John says. Therefore, this is that Word of God, through whom all things were made, and without whom nothing was made.
