ROBERT FLUDD, otherwise known as "de Fluctibus." Robert Fludd (1574–1637) was an English physician and mystical philosopher. "De Fluctibus" is the Latin translation of his surname, meaning "of the waves."
A decorative oval woodcut emblem featuring an equestrian figure. A knight in full plate armor, brandishing a sword, is mounted on a rearing horse facing right. He carries a shield on his left arm. Above the knight, a ribbon scroll displays the motto: "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT" original: "MILITIA BONAM MILITIAM"; a Latin phrase often used to describe spiritual or intellectual struggle.. The entire scene rests upon a square stone pedestal inscribed with the initials "E.K." Likely the initials of the printer, Erasmus Kempffer.. In the background, a distant cityscape is visible.
