THOMAS TAYLOR. Thomas Taylor (1758–1835) was an English translator and classicist known as "the Platonist." He was instrumental in reviving interest in ancient Greek philosophy during the Romantic era.

But Aristotle, writing to Antipater concerning Alexander, said that it was fitting to take pride not only in ruling over many people, but no less if one has a right understanding concerning the gods. original Greek: "Ο δε Αριστοτελης προς Αντιπατρον περι Αλεξανδρου γραφων, εφη μη μονον εκεινω προσηκειν οτι πολλων κρατει μεγαφρονειν, αλλ' ουδεν ηττον ει τις ορθως γινωσκει περι θεων." This quote is from Plutarch’s "Life of Alexander."
