And he brought the word 1 of the division of the days, and for the law and for the testimony 2.
And He said: "Set your heart to every word that I tell you on this mountain 3, and write it in a book so that their generations may see how they did not return 4 original: "ኢያገበው" - a scribal variation suggesting failing to turn back or repent from all the evil which they committed, leading to error and the overturning 5 of the ordinance that I establish—and which I have spoken to you this day—for their generations on Mount Sinai.

And it shall happen 6 and be told 7 in this way: when all the plagues that I have spoken 8 come upon them, they will know that I am more righteous than they 9 in all their judgments and in all their deeds 10, and they will know that I have truly been with them.

And as for you, write for yourself all 11 the words which I make known to you this day; for I know their rebelliousness and their stiff-neckedness A common biblical metaphor for stubbornness or pride, even before I bring them into the land which I swore to their fathers 12, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying: 'To your offspring I will give this 13 land, which flows with milk and honey, and they shall eat and be satisfied' 14.

Then they will turn toward strange gods who cannot save them from all their tribulations, and this testimony will be heard against them 15 as a witness 16. For they will forget every commandment of mine which I command them, and they will walk after the Gentiles and after their uncleanness and after their shame. They will serve their gods, and these will become to them a cause of stumbling, of tribulation, of pain, and a snare. And many shall be destroyed, and they shall be taken captive, and they shall fall into the hand of the enemy, because they have abandoned my ordinance and my commandments."
