Dialogues. For every genuine minister of the Kingdom of God has a commission to preach in season and out of season original: "Preach in Seaſon and out of Seaſon". He who observes the wind shall not sow, and he who regards the clouds shall not reap. If St. John’s Apocalypse original: "Apocalypſe"; the Book of Revelation had not been written or published before it could be easily read and understood, the date of those visions would have been at least fifteen hundred years later than it was, and the actual occurrence original: "Event" of things would have happened before they were even predicted.
And as for the alleged enigmatic obscurity of the symbols Types; symbolic patterns or figures in the Bible that foreshadow future events and prophecies, the goal of this author has been that they should no longer be obscure. I believe they truly cease to be so for those who look upon them with an impartial eye and are properly prepared to receive their meaning. For certain corruptions original: "Pollutions" may hinder some from seeing anything at all; as they say is the case when looking into a magic crystal or scrying stone original: "Shew-ſtone"; a crystal used by seers to view visions. When two people look into the same crystal, but are differently prepared or predisposed, one sees a clear scene of things to come, while the other sees nothing.
While that is strange in the case of scrying, it seems far stranger in the case of prophecies. The main things being aimed at are as clearly solved—provided the postulates Postulata; fundamental assumptions or required conditions are admitted (that is to say, the truth of history and the meaning of the prophetic style, as interpreted by the Scripture itself)—as any problem in algebra. This will certainly appear to be true to intelligent readers from Mr. Mede’s Synchronisms original: Joseph Mede (1586–1638), a famous scholar whose "Synchronisms" attempted to align the timelines of different prophecies in Revelation and the last eight chapters of Synopsis Prophetica original: Synopſis Prophetica, a work by the author, Henry More, explaining the meaning of biblical prophecies. And if one simply admits the combined explanation original: "Joint-Expoſition" of these two chapters of the Apocalypse, the thirteenth and seventeenth, there will be little controversy regarding the solution of the rest. This will be even more apparent upon the reading of these Dialogues, which provide light into the whole Apocalypse and so take away that excuse from those who claim they cannot safely
