spoke to Philip, saying:
"Rise and go toward

sitting in his
chariot, and he was
reading the prophet
Isaiah. And the
Spirit original: "πν̅α̅" (pneuma), a sacred abbreviation for Spirit said to Philip: "Go near
and join yourself to this chariot."
And running up, Philip
heard him reading
the prophet
Isaiah, and said:
"Do you truly understand what you
are reading?" And he
said: "How indeed
could I, unless
someone should guide me?"
And he invited

And they, having testified and

returned to Jerusalem, and in many
villages of the Samaritans they

to Philip and said:
"Rise and go thou toward
the south along the road
that descends from Jerusalem
to Gaza, for that is
a desert." And rising
he went. And behold, a man,
an Ethiopian eunuch,
a powerful official of Candace, the Queen
of the Ethiopians, who was over
all her treasury;
who had come to
worship in Jerusalem.
And as he was returning,
and sitting in his chariot,
he was reading the
prophet Isaiah. The
Spirit said to Philip: "Draw
near and join yourself to
this chariot." And
Philip, running up,
heard that he was reading
the prophet Isaiah, and
said: "Do you perhaps understand
what you are reading?" And
he said: "How could
I possibly, if no one
should guide me?"

Philip to come up and
sit with him. Now the
passage of the scripture
which he was reading was this:

slaughter he was led; and as a lamb

his mouth. In his

judgment was taken away.
His generation, who
shall describe? For his

earth." And the eunuch,

beg you, about whom does the
prophet say this?

someone else?" And
opening his mouth, and
beginning from
this scripture, Philip
preached to him the gospel of

went along the road,
they came to some water, and
the eunuch says: "Behold,
water. What prevents me from
being baptized?" And he
commanded the chariot to stand. And
they both went down
into the water,
Philip and the eunuch,
and he baptized him. And when
they came up

And he invited Philip to come up and
sit with him. And the

which he was reading was this:
"As a sheep to the slaughter
he was led; and as a lamb

mute, so he opens
not his mouth. In
his humiliation his
judgment was taken away.
His genealogy, who
shall tell? For his
life is taken from the earth."
The eunuch gave
an answer to Philip and said: "I
beseech you, concerning whom
does the prophet say this?
Concerning himself, or concerning
someone else?" Philip
opened his mouth,
and beginning from
these scriptures,
he preached to him Jesus. original: "յս̅" (Iisous), a sacred abbreviation for Jesus
As they went along
the road, they came to
some water, and
the eunuch says: "Behold,
water. What hinders me
from being baptized?" And he
commanded the chariot to stop,
and they both went down into
the water, Philip and
the eunuch, and he baptized him.
And when they came up out of the water,
