In a sand bath original: "sabelis," likely "sabulo" for fifteen days, a matter of greater virtue virtueIn alchemy, "virtue" refers to the inherent power or medicinal efficacy of a substance is treated, which consumes all infirmities and smokiness. When the response is given, from that power of the white and red elixir original: "elixu- albũ rubeum", it touches the red and white procedure.
Then, on all those days, sublime the compound of sal ammoniac original: "s. amonit" from the power of sulfur. Nothing good can be done in the work, nor can it be done truly without any falsehood, unless you do this. And if you do not do this, even in a year the mule alchemical metaphor for a stubborn or "sterile" process that does not produce the "offspring" or result wanders and will not lead to the stone of sublimation and elevation. Then, from a half-portion, let them be joined together until the grain. All sublimations ought to be completed; the sublimations are left so that the substance may be better calcined calcinationThe process of heating a solid to high temperatures to remove volatile substances or to oxidize it. All "brothers" likely referring to related chemical salts or minerals are sublimated so that neither the odor nor the fire of the earth remains. The sublimated material should rest away from the fire for twelve days so that it is better calcined; it is re-distilled distilled again? little by little, and gradually its foulness is put away, just as the threads of heat are refined from the stones. And you should not do this unless the elixir is agitated in the whiteness or redness at midday. And you shall do this just as you have the external world purified...
twice stand flower that isAnd this is the method and the way for all distillations and sublimations. On the first day, burn 70 pounds original: "tt" or "lb" of wood—gather them and dry them in the sun, for they are better when they are dried out—and let no other thing of this sort happen. In the lordly or "master" distillation and sublimations, use 20 pounds of wood. For in sublimation, the watery humidity and the burning are removed; it doubles itself in either sublimation or distillation.
And this is the method: divide the days. When it is sublimated, let it proceed for one hour until the seventh hour of the day. Use 5 pounds of wood for each period, so that for each and every hour they are burned. And thus you shall make it so that 30 pounds of wood are burned in six hours; and in this action, two infirmities are destroyed: that is, watery humidity and burning. Likewise, in the repetition of the 10 pounds of wood, let it ascend... and another six hours. In this, for each and every hour, burn 10 pounds of wood in one... if indeed they are able to complete the burning and the doubling and the grain from the "alkatre" possibly a reference to "al-qitran" or cedar tar/resin. And truly, as seen under the sky, it is of great value in all distillations and exhalations. The sublimation should go like food, hour by hour, and with the burning of 80 pounds of wood, which ought to be divided... it ends in 12 hours, that is, at night. For each and every hour, let 6 pounds of wood be burned while the distillation follows the sublimation; or in the repetition, it is strengthened likewise. Thousands of fruits metaphorical results come from the action of sublimation and exhalation, and likewise from sublimation and distillation, in repetition and sublimation, etc.
