The Temple represents the external Universe. The Magician must accept it as he finds it, so that it has no specific shape; yet we find written in the Book VII original: Liber VII; a reference to Liber Liberi svel Lapidis Lazuli, one of the holy books of Thelema, chapter 6, verse 2:
“We built ourselves a Temple of stones in the shape of the Universe, just as you wore it openly and I wore it in secret.”
This shape is the Vessel of the Fish original: Vesica Piscis; a sacred geometric symbol formed by the intersection of two circles, representing the portal between worlds; however, only the greatest of the Magicians can design the Temple in such a way. There may, nevertheless, be some choice regarding the rooms; this refers to the power of the Magician to be reborn reincarnate into a suitable body.
