Kepler’s Works, edited by Christian Frisch. Frankfurt am Main, 1858–71.
Forerunner of the Mathematical Dissertations, containing the Cosmographic Mystery on the Remarkable Proportion of the Heavenly Spheres Original Latin title: Prodromus dissertationum mathematicarum continens Mysterium Cosmographicum de admirabili proportione orbium cœlestium. Published in 1596, this was Kepler's first major astronomical work, in which he attempted to explain the structure of the universe through the geometry of the five Platonic solids.. Tübingen, 1596.
New Astronomy, Based on Causes Original: Astronomia nova αἰτιολογητός. The Greek term implies a work that explains the "why" of planetary motion through physics. In this book, Kepler proved that planets move in elliptical orbits rather than perfect circles. (Commentaries on the Motions of the Star Mars Original Latin: Commentaria de motibus stellæ Martis. Kepler used the term "star" in the classical sense to refer to any celestial body, including planets.). [Prague,] 1609.
