Fragments, etc. On the other hand, nothing is easier than to provide advance references to the Works of Descartes: we will simply reproduce, later on, the pagination of each editio princeps original: "édition princeps"; Latin for the first printed edition of a book., which is the same pagination Descartes uses when he refers to his own books in his Letters. The two publications of the Correspondence and the Works will therefore be successive, and not simultaneous.
A chronological order is essential. No doubt readers would be very pleased to find all the letters exchanged...
