Since the publication of the first part of the Historical and Biographical Memoirs of the Society of Friends The Society of Friends is the formal name for the Christian denomination more commonly known as the Quakers, founded in 17th-century England., many additional materials have been provided to the author. These materials have made it necessary to expand the work beyond the size originally intended. The work will now consist of two volumes instead of one; this first volume has been enlarged so much that it will contain almost as much content as was originally planned for the entire work. The second volume is well-advanced and will contain a full account of the Society's activities during the 1700s original: "eighteenth century".
The following pages will be found to contain an account of the rise and progress of the Society in different parts of the world, along with many interesting details about the lives and characters of those who were most prominent original: "conspicuous" in its early history. The author has made every effort original: "spared no pains" to ensure the work is as accurate and authentic as possible.
