The first of these treatises was written by a German philosopher under the title The Ancient War of the Knights. It was initially accepted as the work of a reputable author and true master by everyone who had gained any knowledge of this science original: "Science"; here referring to alchemy. Furthermore, this treatise later received authoritative validation from a second work: a commentary written in French by another learned philosopher. Following his instructive and scholarly commentary, this second author added "six Keys." Because of their clarity and brilliant explanations, these keys are second to none and are of the greatest possible use to any student of this art original: "Art"; referring to the practice of alchemy.
