but to instruct people in the Hermetic science original: "Hermetick Science"; the study of alchemy and occult philosophy attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, which is mostly described in such difficult terms that the unfortunate change of even one word might alter a whole sentence to the infinite disadvantage of a beginner original: "Tyro"; a novice or student. Therefore, it is better to stick to the author's meaning in a less pleasing style than to deviate from it by using more polished expressions.
It is also for the same reason that whenever the German source has a word or sentence that might carry a double meaning or interpretation, both of them have been provided. For example: where The War of the Knights (found at the end of this book and translated from the German original) says at No. 19, page 10: “And if you two should mix yourselves together and were kept
