...regarding the Lullian art original: "lullische Kunst"; a logical and philosophical system developed by the 13th-century philosopher Ramon Llull, which later Christian scholars often associated with Kabbalah or a number of 17th and 18th-century English and French writings that are purely political or state-theoretical in content—such as the well-known Lettres Cabbalistiques Cabbalistic Letters; despite the title, this was a work of social and political satire by the Marquis d'Argens and others. In doubtful cases where I could not conduct a personal examination original: "Autopsie" to reach a final decision, I opted for inclusion at the risk of being in error (as with entry No. 204).
With the supplements, this bibliography includes more than 1,300 entries and is likely still capable of many additions. About 500 to 600 of these entries exist as independent bibliographic units. A large number of these specific writings are difficult, if not impossible, to obtain; there is likely no public collection that possesses even half of them. It would be a welcome result of this bibliography if it served as an incentive for some collections to supplement their holdings. Twelve languages are represented in the works listed here, including almost all of the more important ones. To make them easier to navigate, I have also provided English original: "deutsch" (German) translations for Hebrew, Slavic, and Hungarian titles. The complete absence of Spanish (except for No. 867) and Scandinavian works is striking. Even experts in Jewish literature in these languages were unable to point out anything relevant to me. I am certain that a significant number of works I missed or that remained inaccessible to me still exist in other languages, particularly in English, Russian, and Yiddish periodicals. I will be grateful for any additions and corrections from experts aimed at addressing these deficiencies, of which I am painfully aware.
I have endeavored to provide the sources for my information to the best of my knowledge for all works that neither I nor reliable informants were able to see personally. Because the rich holdings of the Jewish National and University Library in Jerusalem Now known as the National Library of Israel were available to me for several years, I had the opportunity in many cases for a precise and repeated verification of information from other sources. My aim was to provide as accurate and detailed information as possible, particularly by providing the pagination and similar details to help the users of this bibliography identify incomplete or faulty copies...
