A central woodcut emblem within a square frame. An oval cartouche in the center contains the "Hieroglyphic Monad" symbol A complex glyph designed by Dee to represent the unity of all creation, combining the astronomical signs for the Sun, Moon, the four elements, and the zodiac sign Aries.. In the four corners of the square frame are circular vignettes representing the four elements: 'FIRE' with a personified sun; 'AIR' with a crescent moon; 'EARTH' showing a landscape; and 'WATER' showing sea waves and a monster.
