This photograph shows the fore-edge fore-edge: the outer edge of a book's pages, located opposite the spine of a closed historical book. The edges of the paper block are brown and aged from time. A light-colored, woven fabric ribbon bookmark extends from between the pages near the top of the volume volume: a single bound book. The inner boards, visible at the edges, are covered with marbled paper marbling: a decorative technique where paper is dipped in a tray of colored liquids to create a pattern resembling stone featuring a pattern of blue, red, and tan swirls. The photograph is set against a black background which contains printed metadata at the bottom.
