CHAPTER II.

Matthew 6, Luke 12.

And indeed, those things that are subject to us are free by their very nature; they can neither be prohibited nor hindered by anyone. However, those things over which we ourselves have no right are weak, enslaved, subject to hindrances, and belong to others.

CHAPTER III.

Therefore remember: if you think those things which are by nature enslaved are free, and if you consider what belongs to others as your own, you will be hindered, you will lament, you will be troubled, and you will accuse both gods and men. But if you consider only what is truly yours to be your own, and what belongs to others—as it truly is—to belong to others...
