Latin Works of Giordano Bruno

Of the three writings by Bruno contained in this third
part of the second volume, On the Composition of Images original: De imaginum compositione has
not had any reprint since the original edition of 1591,
and among his mnemonic works Mnemonic works are those concerning the "Art of Memory," a Renaissance system of using mental imagery and spatial architecture to organize and recall vast amounts of information. it is one of the most obscure and most dif-
ficult to correct. It is for this reason that we have left
even the punctuation intact, whenever it either
did not seem that we understood with full certainty, or we could not
see a way to correct a phrase (even with high probability)
without being subsequently obliged to correct many
others in a completely improbable manner. Let
pages 287 and following serve as an example; where, if we had wanted to transform
the punctuation and the typographical composition of the original
edition, in order to keep the reader informed of the changes made
by us, it would have been necessary to print the same
text a second time entirely!

The Hunting Torch original: Lampas venatoria instead, besides appearing in the reprint
by Gfrörer August Friedrich Gfrörer (1803–1861), an editor who published a collection of Bruno's Latin works in the 19th century. (=G), is found reproduced in three editions of the works
of Lull Ramon Llull (c. 1232–1315), a philosopher and mystic whose logical "Art" of combining concepts was a primary influence on Bruno's thought., all three of which came from the Zetzner printing house of
Strasbourg, in the years 1598 (=A), 1609 (=A²), and 1651 (=A³).
