Campanella (1568–1639) was an Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, and astrologer who wrote this work while imprisoned by the Inquisition.
Utopian literature A genre of fiction and philosophy that describes an ideal or perfect society; Campanella's work is one of the most famous examples alongside Thomas More's "Utopia."
