A woodcut printer's device featuring a serpent coiled around a T-shaped cross (Tau cross). At the bottom, two hands emerge from stylized clouds to grip the base of the cross. The syllables "VIN" and "CENT" are printed on either side of the vertical timber of the cross. This is the printer's mark of Vincenzo Valgrisi; the syllables "VIN-CENT" are a pun on his name and the Latin word for "they conquer."
