Of these errors, we have necessarily noted some in this place, inasmuch as they perverted the author's meaning; some others, indeed, which altered a word and offended the Latinity by the addition, omission, or change of one or two letters, we have set down for this reason only: that by their example the kind reader may correct other similar ones committed during the printing. Moreover, before he begins to read these commentaries, let him restore all these corrupted passages, lest he be hindered while reading.
