The hand of a good painter has well depicted the mouth, the brow, the eyes, and the other features of Clusius’s face. The powers of his genius it could not; but Clusius himself has depicted them most excellently in this work. Though the length of time may destroy the painter’s work and Clusius himself, no day shall ever destroy this work. Therefore, when a long age shall have resolved him into ashes, Clusius will yet survive in this work.
