An ornate woodcut vignette featuring a central sun with a face and radiating rays positioned above a draped banner containing the text "From here [comes] the rising" original Latin: "Hic ortum". Below the banner is an altar or desk on which several books are placed, including an open volume and botanical specimens. The front of the desk is inscribed with the words "And the mind" original Latin: "Et mentem". The entire scene is enclosed in an elaborate Baroque frame with scrollwork, architectural elements, and hanging floral garlands. In the lower left corner of the internal frame, the initials "P. P. f." are visible.
