I, the undersigned, Counselor to the King, Lecturer and Royal Professor of Medicine, and Medical Doctor of Paris; by order of the most illustrious Chancellor of France, have read this book titled: New Genera of American Plants, by Father Charles Plumier, of the Order of Minims A Roman Catholic religious order of friars founded by St. Francis of Paola; Plumier was a member of this order in the Province of France, and Royal Botanist in the American Islands The West Indies. In this work, I have found nothing that I do not consider to be of the highest pleasure and utility to plant-lovers original: Philo-botanis, as well as being a source of the greatest praise for its author. Given at Paris, the sixth day of the month of March, in the year 1703.
