I remain convinced that they would be favorably received, should they ever come to light: those three histories recently composed by Don Pedro de Figueroa Pedro de Figueroa (1718–1770) was a Spanish-Chilean soldier and historian known for his chronicles of the Kingdom of Chile., and by the Abbots Don Miguel de Olivares and Don Felipe Vidaurre Jesuit priests who wrote extensively on Chilean history and geography before the expulsion of the Society of Jesus in 1767.. Of these, the first two deal with the events that have occurred in that Kingdom from the arrival of the Spaniards until our own time. Indeed, the history by Abbot Olivares could be called perfect in its genre, given the critical eye and accuracy with which he has presented the most important events of the nearly continuous war between the Spaniards and the Araucanians The "Araucanos" refers to the Mapuche people, who famously resisted Spanish conquest for centuries.. Abbot Vidaurre dedicated himself primarily to showcasing Chilean products The original "producciones" refers to natural resources, flora, and fauna. and the customs of those natives; two tasks which he has performed with the utmost intelligence and success.
