An ornate woodcut initial 'A' features floral motifs and a central vase-like structure.Acara-patsjottili to the Malabarese, Tilo Sameno to the Brahmins, Salaõ Femea Female Salaõ to the Portuguese, and Lerick wyfken Little female Lerick to the Dutch, is also a low small tree, a rival to the preceding ones. Its leaves, however, are less broad and not crenated on the margin.
The flowers are very white, sweet-smelling, and grow in large numbers at the ends of the branches; they are attached to a green calyx, which is divided into four subrotund segments, and consist of four oblong-round petals reflexed toward the outside, with a cluster of whitish stamens, adorned with fleshy and subrotund tips, occupying the middle cavity and navel of the flower; among these emerges a small, oblong, pointed, quadripartite globe, the rudiment of the four seeds that subsequently grow in the fruit.
The fruits are subrotund with a cusp at the top, quadripartite, at first green, then dark red and shining, consisting of the enclosed calyx of the flowers, containing four oblong-round, greenish seeds enclosed in their own distinct pellicles; the taste is unpleasant and wild.
It also grows in mountainous and rocky places in Candenate; it is always green, and bears fruit in the months of September and October.
A gargle is prepared from the leaves of this tree boiled in rice water, which powerfully heals aphthae small, painful ulcers in the mouth.
| Although these foreign trees, which have not been proposed by any botanist, are known by the name Patsjotti; | a great difference is nevertheless observed in the essential notes, so that they are deservedly considered distinct species. |
The table above represents a two-column layout of a concluding remark regarding the preceding plates.
