Jean Jaubert de Barrault (1584–1643) was a real Archbishop of Arles; his name was often attached to such manuscripts to lend them an air of ecclesiastical authority or "forbidden" prestige.
The Great Pentacle: A complex circular diagram occupies the center of the page. It features concentric circles and a central square grid containing Hebrew characters and Latin letters. In the tradition of the 'Key of Solomon,' such pentacles were believed to be tools for commanding spirits and protecting the practitioner.
Little Keys: (Clavicules) From the Latin 'clavicula,' meaning a small key. These texts were intended to "unlock" the secrets of the spirit world.
