sixteen times, then whatever need he intends, God will hasten
its fulfillment and prepare for him what he might possess of wealth, status, prestige, and standing.
Among the special properties of this remembrance dhikr: a repetitive prayer or litany is the placement of blessing in anything it is placed
upon; if this pattern is read over something suitable and performed as a remembrance of
His Noble Name, "The Near One" Al-Qarib, and held close, nothing
he desires will be difficult for him, and all his actions will be made easy so that he proceeds quickly. This
remembrance is suitable for those seeking spiritual unveilings mukashafat: intuitive flashes of divine knowledge among the masters of retreats.
For if they persist in this, God casts noble thoughts into the mind. If there is added
to it His Name "The Manifester" Al-Mubin in this supplication: "O Swift One, O Near One,
O Manifester," there shall appear to him what he desires of the uncovering of divine gifts in actions
connected to the world of sovereignty and the visible realm alam al-mulk wa-sh-shahada: the physical, perceptible world.
Its remembrance:
My Lord, I ask You for a spiritual aid by which You strengthen my universal and particular faculties, so that I may prevail through the principles of my soul over every oppressive soul, and their necks shall be so constricted that their strength fails.
The Assault
So that there remains no living being in the universe except that the fire of subdual has extinguished its appearance. O Intense One, O Possessor of the Assault, O Subduer! I ask You by what You entrusted to Azrael The Angel of Death of the powers of Your subduing Names, by which souls were affected by force: protect me from all evil in this hour so that it does not overcome any difficulty, and let me humble every defiant thing through Your power, O Possessor of Constant Strength.
One calls out with this supplication in this hour
thirty-nine times, then prays against an oppressor to reclaim a right. This is done
after five sets of prayers salimat: units of prayer ending with a salutation with the Opening Chapter Al-Fatiha only. The corresponding
verse for this supplication from the Great Quran is: "And such is the grasp of your Lord
when He seizes the cities while they are doing wrong; indeed, His grasp is painful and severe." In
this remembrance is the suppression of tyrants, the cutting off of the remnants of oppressors, the destruction
of the homes of rebels, and similar actions that would take too long to explain.
